Last Day!

Today marks my last day of maternity leave. These last 13 weeks have been so bittersweet. The transition into Mommyhood was nothing that I expected- bad and good- and I don't think anyone can truly prepare for all that you are about to endure.

At the beginning of my maternity leave, it seemed like each day lasted forever and that every time I went to eat or use the bathroom (which took literally 10 minutes each time- Mommy friends know what I'm talking about), Olivia was upset or hungry. Fast forward to 6 weeks... Olivia started loosing weight again and I made the oh-so-heartbreaking decision to formula feed. I was so determined to breastfeed. Thank God for formula! Skip a few weeks to week 9 and Olivia is only drinking formula. She is the happiest baby and is starting to chunk up a bit. Ever since we moved to formula, the days and weeks have been flying by. Olivia is a much happier, smiley baby and I'm one grateful, stress-free Mama.

Olivia will be watched by my friend and former co-worker Caroline. I know she will be in wonderful hands and will love the attention. I, however, will need to keep some tissues with me throughout the day. I never knew my heart could love someone like this... and it just keeps growing!
